Best Robot Lawn Mower With No Wire in 2026: Four That Actually Work

Published November 6, 2026 · Lawn size, slope math, charge coverage and pet-and-kid safety

The best robot lawn mower with no boundary wire is the one rated for your lawn size and slope, not the one with the biggest acreage on the box. Wire-free mowers are real and shipping: you walk the edge, the app builds a map and the mower follows it. But every maker has limits on sky view, slope, tall grass and obstacles, and they rarely lead the ad with them.

Our #1 pick

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H

$$$$ · High-end

Mammotion lists LiDAR with dual-camera AI vision, so it does not depend on a clear satellite view, plus all-wheel drive rated for 80 percent (38.6 degree) slopes and a 3-year warranty. It handles up to 20 mowing zones. The trade-off is range per charge: Mammotion says one charge covers up to 0.12 acre, so a full 0.37-acre lawn takes about three charge cycles.

This guide compares four wire-free mowers sold on Amazon, using manufacturer pages. It is a researched buying guide, not a lawn test. For each one we list what it cannot do, the safety rules for children and pets, and a lawn-size and slope check you can do in ten minutes with a tape measure.

The short version

Our pick: Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H, for lawns up to 0.37 acre with slopes up to 80 percent, and it uses LiDAR and cameras rather than satellite signal alone. Best value for small flat lawns: Segway Navimow i206 AWD (0.15 acre, 45 percent slope). Best for big lawns: MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD (0.75 acre). Remember: it still needs trimming along fences and flower beds, and it is not safe around loose children or pets while the blades spin.

Our picks, one by one

Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500HOur Pick

$$$$ · High-end
Best for: Slopes, trees and complex lawns up to 0.37 acre
Watch-out: The 1500H version cuts at 2.2 to 4.0 inches, so it will not mow short. The non-H model lists a lower range, so check the listing. Charge coverage is 0.12 acre, meaning a few charge cycles for a full lawn.

Mammotion's US page lists 360 degree LiDAR with dual-camera AI vision, AWD for 80 percent (38.6 degree) slopes, a 6.1 Ah battery, a noise level under 65 dB and IPX6 water resistance. It supports up to 20 zones and a 4.7-inch edge disc that gets within 2.1 inches of walls. A 4G module with 3 years of data is included. Against the Navimow i210 AWD, it handles steeper slopes (80 versus 45 percent) and does not rely on network RTK.

Segway Navimow i206 AWDBest for Small Lawns

$$$ · Premium
Best for: Lawns up to 0.15 acre with gentle to moderate slopes
Watch-out: It uses network RTK plus vision, so heavy tree cover can hurt positioning. At 0.15 acre it is the smallest here, and Segway sells a bigger model for 0.25 acre.

Segway lists AWD with a concentric third wheel for zero-turn steering, slopes up to 45 percent (24 degrees), steps up to 1.57 inches, 150-plus obstacle types, IP66 and 59 dB(A). Network RTK access is included at no extra cost per its page. The warranty is 3 years in total, with 2 years on the battery. It is the quietest mower in this guide.

Segway Navimow i210 AWDBest Mid-Size Value

$$$ · Premium
Best for: Lawns up to 0.25 acre with moderate slopes
Watch-out: Amazon listings disagree on charge coverage (one lists 2,690 sq ft per charge), so do not size a lawn from that number. Same network RTK requirement as the i206.

Amazon lists the i210 AWD with all-wheel drive for 45 percent slopes, a 2 to 3.6 inch adjustable cutting height, a 5.1 Ah battery, NRTK plus vision auto mapping and coverage up to 0.25 acre. Segway's i2 series page says it climbs 45 percent versus 30 percent for the older i1 series. It costs one price tier above the i206 for roughly 1.7 times the rated lawn.

MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWDBest for Big Lawns

$$$$ · High-end
Best for: Lawns of 0.5 to 0.75 acre, steep sections, multiple zones
Watch-out: At 52 lbs it is 52 lbs and the most expensive here. MOVA says a 90-minute charge supports up to 0.25 acre, so a full 0.75-acre lawn needs several cycles.

MOVA lists 360 degree 3D LiDAR, dual 1080p cameras, 300-plus obstacle types, AWD with four hub motors for slopes up to 80 percent, dual 15.8-inch cutting discs and a 1.2 to 3.9 inch cutting height. The battery is 36V, 243 Wh, 7.5 Ah, with IPX6 water resistance and a 3-year warranty. It supports dual maps and up to 150 zones.

How We Chose

This is desk research. We started with wire-free robot mowers that have current Amazon.com listings, then checked each maker's own product page for lawn size, slope, battery, cutting height, noise, water rating and warranty. We kept four that publish a slope rating and a warranty. Where listings disagreed with the maker's page, the maker's page won, or we left the number out. We also left out mowers that need a boundary wire and brands where we could not find a manufacturer spec page.

Lawn Size and Slope Math

Convert before you shop. One acre is 43,560 sq ft, so a lawn you measure in square feet needs dividing. Slope percent is rise divided by run times 100.

MowerRated lawnRated lawn in sq ftSlope ratingCharge coverageCharges for a full lawn
Navimow i206 AWD0.15 acre6,53445% (24 degrees)Not publishedn/a
Navimow i210 AWD0.25 acre10,89045% (24 degrees)Not published by Segwayn/a
Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H0.37 acre16,11780% (38.6 degrees)0.12 acreabout 3
MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD0.75 acre32,67080%up to 0.25 acreabout 3

Formula: sq ft = acres x 43,560. Charges per full lawn = rated lawn / charge coverage, rounded. Slope % = rise / run x 100 (a 4 ft rise over 10 ft run is 40%). We left prices out of this table on purpose and show them as price classes in the product cards.

Takeaway: do not size a mower on the headline acreage alone. A mower rated for 0.37 acre that covers 0.12 per charge needs about three mow cycles, so the lawn takes most of a day. Leave 20 percent headroom over your measured lawn.

Wire-Free Does Not Mean Setup-Free

There are two navigation families here. Segway's i2 series uses network RTK plus vision, so it needs a decent view of the sky and mobile signal. Mammotion and MOVA use LiDAR plus cameras, which do not depend on a satellite signal alone. If your lawn sits under mature trees or between tall buildings, favor LiDAR. If it is open, any of these will work.

Either way, you still do a first-time setup: drive the mower around the edge with the app, mark no-go zones for flower beds, ponds and soft ground, and set a schedule. Allow time for it. After that it runs on its own.

What These Mowers Cannot Do

A robot mower mows. It does not trim tight to fences, edge flower beds or vacuum leaves. Mammotion's edge disc gets within 2.1 inches of walls, which still leaves a strip to trim. None cut tall, overgrown grass well: start from a lawn you have mowed to a reasonable height, and never run one in thick brush. Wet grass, deep ruts and holes cause stuck wheels. Slope ratings assume dry grass, and the 80 percent figures are manufacturer limits, not a promise for every lawn.

Upkeep, Spare Parts and Theft

Robot mowers are low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. Blades dull and the cutting disc needs cleaning. Segway sells replacement cutting disks, a blade assembly and edge protection strips for the i series, and Mammotion lists replacement blades on its site. Check that the spare parts exist before you buy, because a mower with no blades available is a short-term machine.

Ten-Minute Lawn Check Before You Order

  1. Measure the lawn. Pace out the length and width of each section and multiply. Add them up, then divide by 43,560 for acres.
  2. Find the steepest slope. Lay a straight board on the ground, level it, and measure the drop over the board's length. Divide drop by length and multiply by 100.
  3. Walk the edges. Note drop-offs, sprinkler heads, soft spots and gates. Each one is a possible no-go zone.
  4. Check the sky. If you rely on RTK, stand where the mower will mow and look for open sky. Heavy leaf cover is the warning sign.
  5. Find a charging spot. You need an outlet near flat ground with a clear approach. A garage accessory is optional, and Segway sells one separately.

If the lawn is under 0.15 acre, flat and open, the Navimow i206 AWD is more than enough. If it is above 0.37 acre or has steep sections above 45 percent, step up to the Mammotion or MOVA. If any slope measures above 80 percent, no mower here will handle it.

Safety: Pets, Children, Slopes and Edges

A mowing robot has spinning blades. Treat it like a lawn mower that runs while you are not looking.

Robot Mower or Push Mower: A Decision Rule

Ask what you want back. If you want your Saturday morning back and your lawn is under 0.75 acre with moderate slopes, a wire-free robot fits. If you enjoy mowing, or the yard has lots of narrow strips, gates and clutter, a push mower stays cheaper and simpler. A robot mows on a schedule, so you stop thinking about it, but it also means a mower is running in your yard several days a week. Check your local noise rules and your neighbors' patience before you pick a schedule.

The hidden cost is time spent on the first setup and on trimming what the robot misses. Budget for a string trimmer either way.

Who Should NOT Buy a Robot Mower

Skip it if your lawn is rough, uneven or full of roots, rocks and holes, if it has several steep sections above the mower's rating, or if kids and dogs use the lawn all day. Skip it for a tiny patch you can mow in ten minutes. Skip it if you will not maintain it: blades wear, and the underside needs a brush-off. And call a landscaper if your yard is over an acre. None of these four is rated for that.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best robot lawn mower with no boundary wire?

For most yards with slopes or trees, the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500H (0.37 acre, 80 percent slope, LiDAR). For small flat lawns, the Segway Navimow i206 AWD. For big lawns, the MOVA LiDAX Ultra 3000 AWD (0.75 acre).

Do wire-free robot mowers work under trees?

LiDAR and vision mowers such as Mammotion and MOVA are built for it. Segway's i2 series uses network RTK plus vision, which needs a clear sky view for best results.

How steep a slope can a robot mower handle?

Segway lists 45 percent (24 degrees) for the i2 AWD models. Mammotion and MOVA list 80 percent. To check your lawn, divide rise by run and multiply by 100.

Are robot lawn mowers safe for dogs and children?

Not while they run. The blades spin, and obstacle detection is not a safety guarantee. Keep children and pets off the lawn, and use lift and tilt alerts.

How long does a robot mower take to cut a lawn?

It depends on charge coverage. Mammotion says 0.12 acre per charge on the LUBA mini 2, so a 0.37-acre lawn takes about three charge cycles. Bigger lawns need more cycles, so size the mower to your lawn with some headroom rather than to the box.
